The word 'Dussehra' is made up of two Hindi words 'dus' and 'hara', where “dus” means ten and 'hara' is annihilated. Therefore, if these two words are combined, 'Dussehra' stands for the day when the ten evil faces (faced by Ravana) were destroyed by Lord Rama. In north and western states of the India, the festival which is celebrated by Hindus on the 10th day of the month of Ashvina (September-October) the seventh month of the Hindu calendar. It is major significance of this festival is end of the Ramalila. The story of Rama, Sita and Lakshaman, and remembers god Rama's victory over the Ravan. On Dasara, towering effigies of Ravan, Ravan, Kumbhakarna and Meghanada symbolising evil, are burnt with fireworks, marking evil's destruction.
